Culture - Part II
There are many other traditions that are continued
to this day. The viewing of the sakura (cherry blossoms) in Spring
dates back to the Heian era (794 to 1192).
Women then, even nowadays, would wear kimono to
watch the sakura in order to show their clothes off. Kimono are
long robes, and thickness varies on the type, and it is held closed
tight with the obi, a sash tied below the chest, the knot along
the back.
