Doors

In most anime series, the doors are like you would expect to find in Japan. They slide open as opposed to swinging open in a particular direction, a small handle at the edge of the door frame being used to move it.

Most internal room doors have translucent paper over the doors, although this is not a requirement in modern Japanese homes. Front doors are often made of wood and have doorknobs as you would expect since security is still at the same level, if not higher, than those in Western countries.

Some do still slide open, but as more people adapt to Western culture, this is changing slowly.
